The mirror of sacrifice

An account of my experience as a dancer and the ways in which this has influenced my practice of magic. Both necessitate the pursuit of an individual method or language, both arise from the living body. Physical praxis combined with interdisciplinary and cross-tradition research have led me to reorient the body as the archaic source of knowing and, at the same time, as primal presence; its doctrine unwritten, but rather inscribed in our genetic potential and able to arise out of, and materialise in, a tactile and kinaesthetic environment. Here I begin to map this occulted body, examining some techniques to intensify and extend its reach; and the use of poietic, imagistic and surrealist language to articulate and stimulate kinetic, bodily responses.
